The Egyptian Al Ahly football club mourned its former star Salah Hosny, who passed away yesterday, Friday, at the age of 45. Al Ahly stated in a press release: "Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, the club's president, the board members, the executive management, and the sports sectors mourn with deep sadness Captain Salah Hosny, the former Al Ahly player, who passed away yesterday, praying for God Almighty to grant the deceased abundant mercy, to admit him to His spacious gardens, and to inspire the family with patience and solace."
Salah Hosny began his football career at the Nakrashi School and joined Al Ahly's youth team at the age of 14, playing for the first team until the age of 24. He then retired from football due to an Achilles tendon injury. After retiring, Hosny took the position of football director at Al Ahly and later became the executive director of the Football Association, distancing himself from football in 2010 after submitting his resignation. Salah Hosny is the father of Ahmed Salah Hosny, a former Al Ahly and Egypt national team player and current actor.
