The Israeli army laid to rest Captain Waseem Mahmoud, deputy commander of a company in the engineering unit of the Iron Division, who was killed in an explosion of a "Namer" armored vehicle a few days ago. During the ceremonies, a large picture of Sultan Atrash and the late Lebanese Druze leader Kamal Jumblatt was raised at the funeral.

While Palestinian Druze are criticized for serving in the Israeli army and joining compulsory enlistment, former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt condemned, in a post on "X" on Monday, the display of Kamal Jumblatt’s image behind the body of an Israeli soldier from the Druze community.

"I am so ashamed of this image that Druzes from Palestine are raising the portraits of Sultan Atrach and Kamal Joumblatt behind an Israeli flag covering the coffin of an IDF soldier. What an insult to the memory of these two great Arab heroes," he wrote.

Jumblatt expressed his deep shame regarding the image, saying, "What an insult to the memory of these two great Arab heroes," and he attached the hashtag "Palestine" to his post.
