Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during his meeting with U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson in Washington, addressed the "largest democracy in the world," praising the "opportunity to speak at this platform," referring to the U.S. Congress. He stated, "We are counting on the support of the United States, and our people thank you for your support." Netanyahu remarked, "Mr. Johnson, you have shown great leadership, alongside Senate leaders and the House Minority Leader."
He added, "The U.S. Congress speaks on behalf of the American people, and the American people speak on behalf of the entire world. I greatly appreciate this opportunity to address this esteemed forum." However, Netanyahu's speech does not receive a warm welcome from all members of the U.S. Congress, as some have decided to boycott his appearance.
Netanyahu stated, "Our enemies will not breach our walls today, as the Romans did two thousand years ago." He informed Jewish organization leaders during a meeting that he would present a "plan for the day after the war in Gaza" in a speech he would deliver before the U.S. Congress on Wednesday, according to Axios. Bloomberg reported that a spokesperson for House Speaker Mike Johnson said that Tesla CEO Elon Musk indicated he would attend Netanyahu's anticipated address later today as a guest of the Israeli Prime Minister.
