Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid pointed out that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government includes mad people unable to do anything," predicting early elections this year. In an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth, Lapid stated, "There are people who are completely crazy in the government. The extremism of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is leading us into a world of madness and is fragmenting the government from within." He noted that "U.S. President Joe Biden is helping Tel Aviv in an unprecedented way," while considering Netanyahu's accusation against Biden of delaying the shipment of weapons as "political madness to appease the right." In another interview with Maariv, Lapid expressed his belief that early elections will take place in 2024, pointing out that if personal security collapses in one year, foreign policy fails, and the economy is in a crisis, the government will eventually fall as well. He emphasized that "Netanyahu represents a disastrous failure; I believe he still does not fully realize what has happened."
