Arab Islamic Committee Urges Europe to Halt Israeli Crimes

The ministerial committee assigned by the extraordinary Arab Islamic summit discussed with the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council the dangerous developments in Gaza, and the continued military escalation and aggression by the occupying army against civilians in the sector. The discussions addressed the current escalation in Rafah, as well as the recent massacre targeting tents of Palestinian displaced persons near the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in northwestern Rafah, according to the Qatari news agency "QNA."

The meeting included Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The committee members emphasized the need for the international community to take responsibility for immediate intervention to stop the massacres committed by Israeli occupation forces, to curb the unprecedented humanitarian disaster facing the Palestinian people.

They also reaffirmed the importance of creating serious political conditions for the establishment of a Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The Arab ministers, along with the Turkish Foreign Minister, expressed their rejection of fragmenting the Palestinian cause and discussing the future of the Gaza Strip in isolation from the Palestinian issue.

They called for addressing all blatant violations carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, which exacerbate the humanitarian tragedy and hinder the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.

They stressed the importance of holding the occupation accountable for its ongoing violations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, "which violate international law and humanitarian law."

Before the meeting, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell stated that the killing of more than 30 displaced persons in Rafah underscores the need to implement the International Court of Justice ruling. Borrell confirmed that "Israel is proceeding with its military operation in the southern sector despite the court's ruling urging it to cease its attack immediately."

The joint Arab Islamic ministerial committee meeting coincides with the continued crimes of the occupation in the Gaza Strip, where a horrific massacre was perpetrated last night against the displaced, resulting in the martyrdom of dozens and injuries to others.
