A father in Egypt has ended the lives of his four children due to the drug known as "Shabu" in the area of Kilometer 17 in Qantara, Ismailia Governorate, according to Cairo 24. Ambulances immediately rushed to transfer the bodies to the morgue, and security forces are continuing their efforts at the scene to conduct necessary investigations and examinations.
RT Network reported that this is not the first tragic incident of a father killing his children; just a few days ago, four siblings were killed by their father in a village in Qalyubia, the youngest being a child and the oldest a 21-year-old young man. Investigations showed that the father was experiencing a severe psychological crisis after his wife left the home.
Shabu, known as "Devil's Drug," is currently the most widely used synthetic drug in Egypt, prepared in laboratories from methamphetamine, a substance derived from the stimulant amphetamine. Methamphetamine was discovered in 1893 as a chemical element but began being used in the 19th century during wars to stimulate soldiers' nervous systems, allowing them to stay awake for long hours and be in an aggressive state.
Recently, Shabu has spread in Egypt despite the announced warnings and dangers, becoming a common link between many murder crimes. According to a previous statement from the Drug Treatment and Addiction Combat Fund, the percentage of synthetic drug use, such as Shabu or "Ice," has increased from 7% to 17% during 2020, as reported by the Egyptian website "Youm7."
