Amid the significant escalation of confrontations in recent days between Israeli forces and Hezbollah along the Israeli-Lebanese border, it appears that a majority of Israelis prefer a broader war between the two sides. A new poll this week revealed that a large majority of Israelis (about 62%) support their country launching a wide-scale war against Hezbollah, while only 18% oppose it. This comes despite thousands of Israelis fleeing their homes to the north since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip on October 7, and the intensification of confrontations along the border with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Meanwhile, 20% expressed uncertainty, indicating that they are unsure of their choice, according to the Jerusalem Post. This support is not limited to the right (with a significant majority of 84%) but also extends to centrist-left party voters, with a majority of 56% endorsing the move. These figures emerged as warnings from European, global, and American officials about the potential escalation of confrontations in northern Israel have increased in the past two days. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the situation on the border with Lebanon cannot remain as it is, while Israeli war council member Benny Gantz warned of difficult days ahead.
