Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati met today, Wednesday, at the Grand Serail, with Minister of National Defense Maurice Sleem. In diplomatic meetings, President Miqati received the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mohsen Amanat, as well as the Canadian ambassador to Lebanon, Stéphanie Macoulm, who stated, "Today's meeting was an opportunity to discuss several topics including the issue of refugees, the displacement file, the budget project, the election of a president, and the formation of a government in addition to economic reforms."
Miqati also held a meeting with the Cypriot ambassador to Lebanon, Maria Haji Theodosiou, where they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries. He welcomed MP Razi Al-Hajj and discussed with Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud, Beirut Mayor Abdullah Darwish, and Mr. Saad Al-Din Hamidi Saqr the city's living conditions and developmental issues.
Miqati received a delegation from the Social Security Board, which included: Ghassan Ghosn, Rafiq Salameh, Antoine Wakim, and Fadallah Sharif. The delegation raised during the meeting the existing problems within the social security system concerning the insured individuals, noting that due to unjust decisions, they do not receive their rights to medicine and healthcare as stipulated by law, according to Ghosn. He added, "We presented this issue and will form a committee to follow up and address the problems of the insured, thus implementing the objectives of social security, which is to serve the insured and provide them with health coverage."
### Iraq Confirms Support for Lebanon
Miqati welcomed the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Tamim this afternoon at the Grand Serail, in the presence of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi embassy in Lebanon, Amin Nasrawi, and MP Nabiel Badir. During the meeting, Tamim conveyed a message from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani affirming continued support for Lebanon without any conditions. Miqati thanked Iraq for its ongoing support for Lebanon in various fields and expressed appreciation for the Iraqi Prime Minister's diligent follow-up on Lebanese affairs.
### World Bank
The Prime Minister also received the World Bank's Regional Director for the Middle East, Jean-Christophe Carre, in the presence of former Minister Nicolas Nahas. They discussed the proposed projects for funding from the bank.
### Additional Meetings
Miqati met with Minister of Justice Henri Khoury and Minister of State for Administrative Development Najla Riachi, who presented to him a draft decree on "electronic signatures" that will be submitted to the Cabinet after obtaining the opinion of the State Council. The ministers indicated that this proposal is the result of more than twenty working sessions between the two ministries.
He welcomed MP Jihad al-Samad and then former Minister Abbas Mortada. He also received the mayor of Tripoli, Ahmad Qamar al-Din, to discuss the city's demands and issues, expressing his wish to reactivate the municipality's work and the rehabilitation of roads.
