The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, received a large shipment of medical aid amounting to 18 tons, provided by Oman, at Beirut International Airport, in the presence of Omani Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saeedi. After the arrival of the plane carrying the aid shipment, Minister Al-Abyad and the Omani ambassador spoke in the VIP lounge at the airport. Al-Abyad noted that "today is a good day for patients in Lebanon. Today, the Omani ambassador and I are receiving a shipment of medicines, which is comprised of 18,000 kilograms of medications and some medical supplies provided by our brothers and the people of the Sultanate of Oman to the Lebanese state to treat patients in hospitals. This includes a significant quantity of life-saving medicines, especially for intensive care units for children and adults, as well as some medical supplies that may assist in hospitals and care centers." He expressed his gratitude to the people of Oman for always standing by Lebanon, emphasizing that this is not the first time the brothers in Oman have supported the people of Lebanon. He stated, "In these difficult circumstances, we are in dire need of these medicines, and this kind gesture deserves all our thanks and appreciation."
Al-Abyad explained that "everyone knows the difficulties Lebanon is currently facing. However, we are confident that with the efforts of those in charge and the support of friends and brothers, and by God's permission, we will overcome these tough circumstances. We hope this will quickly reflect positively on the political and economic situation, which in itself will impact the health situation."
For his part, Ambassador Al-Saeedi thanked Minister Al-Abyad for attending "to receive the shipment presented as a gift from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to the Lebanese brotherly people. The Lebanese-Omani relations are fundamentally deep-rooted in history and distinguished, and this aid has come to reinforce and enhance the exceptional bilateral relations in all fields that connect the Sultanate of Oman and the brotherly Lebanese Republic. Oman’s support for Lebanon indicates the depth of the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries. Oman has always been prepared, is, and will remain standing alongside the Lebanese Republic in all fields. We hope that today’s gift is just the beginning of cooperation, and we hope that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will continue."
He concluded by wishing for stability, peace, and security for Lebanon, affirming his country’s support for the Lebanese Republic in all areas and under all circumstances.
