Britain Calls for Surrender of

British authorities have urged citizens to hand over all types of offensive and dangerous knives in their possession, starting from August 26 for a one-month period, before a law that criminalizes their possession comes into effect in the country. Local authorities in Britain announced the commencement of the surrender of potentially dangerous knives to police stations as part of a nationwide program lasting one month. After this period, authorities may arrest those in possession of these weapons.

The Daily Mail reported that this national program starts on August 26 and ends on September 23, across England and Wales for four weeks, after which there will be prison penalties for violators. It is noteworthy that in the summer of 2023, British authorities banned certain dangerous types of knives, including sickles and knives inspired by zombie films, due to rising violence in the country. The Guardian previously noted that knife-related crimes have increased by 34% over the past decade, reaching 45,000 cases.
