Skaf After Meeting the Mufti: Chances of Breaking the Presidential Crisis in Lebanon Have Improved

The Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, discussed Lebanese and Arab affairs with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Tamim, thanking Iraq for its assistance to Lebanon during the difficult circumstances it is facing. The meeting was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Lebanon, Ameen Nasrawi, and MP Nabil Badr.

The Mufti also received MP Ghassan Skaf, who stated after the meeting, "I met today with His Excellency the Mufti to congratulate him on the extension of his term. We emphasized the national role that this edifice has played in past crises and still does. We rely on his wisdom to help extract Lebanon from its current crisis."

He added, "Today we met with the envoy of the French president, Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and I see that the chances of breaking the presidential crisis in Lebanon have become better today due to external developments. As Lebanese, we need to act internally, seize this opportunity, and utilize external developments to save Lebanon. Today's situation has elevated Lebanon's standing in the hierarchy of external priorities, and we must take advantage of this opportunity to achieve the presidential election. We presented a paper to Minister Le Drian urging the call for the election of a president. We had previously requested that President Berri initiate a call with two dates: the first for a national dialogue with consecutive rounds lasting seven days, and the second for calling the parliamentary council to elect a president in a session with consecutive rounds until a president is elected, without nullifying the quorum regardless of the results of the dialogue rounds."

### Association of Islamic Charitable Projects

The Mufti of the Republic also met with the head of the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects in Beirut, Faisal Snow, who affirmed that "the Dar al-Fatwa holds a significant place in the mind, heart, soul, and feelings of every Muslim, and indeed every Lebanese. It is the support of the projects, and the projects are the support for the Dar al-Fatwa. We must all stand by the Mufti of the Republic, the man of institutions, the voice of truth, tolerance, moderation, consensus, and coexistence."

He added, "We congratulated His Excellency on accepting the amendment of his term, and we in the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects have always sought to align with the Dar al-Fatwa for a long time and work together on various projects, and we have new projects, God willing, for collaboration. Certainly, the relationship between His Excellency and the Association of Projects is historical and will remain so, and we congratulate ourselves on the amendment of the term of the Mufti’s office."

He further updated the Mufti on the procedures taken by the Association to correct the administrative error regarding the name of the Khadija Al-Kubra School of the Projects, which implied a name change, and that the Aisha Umm al-Mu'minin complex houses the Ward al-Maqasid center. The motto of the projects "And say, My Lord, increase me in knowledge" will continue to be upheld in its schools and on the association's social media platforms, and the new motto will be used in printed materials.

Sno presented to the Mufti the details regarding the increase in school tuition fees and the benefits students receive from discounts in some of its schools, reaching up to 80%, benefiting approximately 66% of students. He explained to the Mufti the conditional initiative by the Association to deduct 30% from school tuition fees for every student named Khadija, Aisha, or Fatima, based on a condition from benefactors.

Mufti Daryan confirmed during the meeting "the importance of preserving the constants set by the founders for the mission of the projects."
