"Expo Qatar" Between the Public and Private Sectors in the Beirut Chamber

Today, Thursday, a large working meeting was held at the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce to finalize preparations for Lebanon's participation in "Expo Qatar," which will open on October 1st. The meeting was attended by former minister and head of economic bodies Mohammed Choucair, Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture Louis Lahoud, Director General of the Ministry of Economy Mohammed Abu Haidar, President of the Sidon and South Chamber Mohammed Saleh, Vice President of the Zahle and Bekaa Chamber Munir Al-Tini, Head of the Agricultural Committee in the Union of Lebanese Chambers Rafla Dabbaneh, Economic Attaché at the Lebanese Embassy in Qatar Shadi Abou Daher, Vice President of the Industrialists Association George Nasrawi, President of the Food Industries Syndicate Munir Al-Bassat, President of the Bekaa Industrial Gathering Nicola Abu Faisal, Secretary of the Economic Bodies Alphonse Dib, and representatives from the concerned sectors.

Choucair praised all efforts made to complete the necessary preparations for Lebanon's successful participation in "Expo Qatar," emphasizing the importance of the event as a significant opportunity to showcase Lebanon and open new markets with the presence of 80 exhibiting countries over six months. He stressed the need for Lebanese farmers and industrialists to take advantage of this valuable opportunity and highlighted the importance of giving new companies a chance to promote their products and innovative ideas.

Lahoud expressed his gratitude to Minister Choucair and the Union of Chambers for supporting ministry activities, noting their efforts to support initiatives that serve the national economy, especially Expo Qatar. He also thanked the Lebanese Embassy in Qatar. Lahoud announced that there will be an important opportunity to showcase various Lebanese agricultural and food products, presenting activities that will be organized throughout the six-month duration of Expo Qatar to promote these products and open new markets.

Abu Haidar thanked all supporting and cooperating entities, especially the Lebanese chambers, as well as those who contributed to Lebanon's pavilion, particularly Dar Al-Handasah which provided the interior design and several Lebanese individuals working in Qatar who supplied furniture and other equipment. He mentioned that preparations are underway for an economic conference on the sidelines of the exhibition and emphasized the importance for startups and unique individual initiatives to benefit from their presence at the exhibition.

During the meeting, a lengthy discussion took place to finalize the preparations for Lebanon's successful participation in Expo Qatar 2023, in close collaboration between the public and private sectors. A presentation about "Expo Qatar," the Lebanese pavilion, and the sections it comprises, as well as the spaces available for showcasing Lebanese products, was also made.

The conversation primarily revolved around the weeks that will be organized during "Expo Qatar" over the six months, taking into account the participation of various types of Lebanese food, agricultural, and traditional products, as well as the activities and forums to be held to market Lebanese production. It was agreed on a mechanism to include producers, with a focus on new small producers who have innovative products of excellent quality, to open new markets for their products.
