In his first comment after Israel assassinated his son Abbas, MP Mohammad Raed, the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, affirmed that the path is long and that they are committed to this course. He added, "Abbas has preceded us to martyrdom." Raed's stance came during the reception of his son, the martyr Abbas Raed, nicknamed "Siraj."
The Israeli airstrike targeted a house in Beit Yahoun, resulting in the death of five people, including MP Raed's son Abbas. President Michel Aoun contacted MP Raed to express his condolences for the martyrdom of his son, highlighting the sacrifices and heroism of the youth of the resistance on the defense lines for Lebanon, asserting that the martyr may be absent but will not be forgotten, remaining present in thought and heart.
MP Ibrahim al-Mousawi, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, wrote on X: "Congratulations to my dear brother, the head of the Loyalty bloc, for God has chosen him to join the blessed group of the families of martyrs, with his son Abbas a martyr on the road to Jerusalem."
MP Qassem Hashem from the Development and Liberation bloc stated that what happened yesterday confirms the continuation of Israeli aggression by targeting a group of resistance fighters in a house within one of the southern villages not located along the direct border, indicating that this aggression was deliberate.
Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Mohammad Wissam Mortada, wrote on X: "Abbas Mohammad Raed, the son of the devoted worshiper longing for martyrdom, ascends a martyr alongside four of his brave resistance comrades, in defense of the truth for Lebanon and Palestine. May God multiply the reward."
MP Gibran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, also contacted MP Raed to express his condolences for his son's martyrdom, stating that his martyrdom serves as a role model for the Lebanese people and wishing that it paves the way for the protection and resurrection of Lebanon.
MP Sleiman Frangieh wrote on X: "Dear friend MP Mohammad Raed: Your words regarding the martyrdom of your son are a testament to your deep roots in your land and your faith, which is neither strange nor surprising. Our deep condolences go out to you and all families of martyrs. May God grant you patience, wisdom, and strength."
MP Tony Frangieh stated on X: "There is no greater act than sacrificing oneself for others! Our condolences to the resistance, especially to the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, brother Mohammad Raed, and to the families of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for humanity first and for Lebanon, preserving its lands and independence."
Furthermore, the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc postponed its session that was scheduled for today.
