Scandal Rocks Baghdad Involving Federal Police

Several citizens complained today, Tuesday, about a force from the federal police imposing "fees" on them in exchange for allowing construction materials into their "agricultural" areas in the Al-Ridwaniyah district west of the capital Baghdad. "Baghdad Today" obtained a video showing a man and a woman stating that the federal police had imposed financial amounts reaching three million Iraqi dinars to allow construction materials for completing their newly built homes in the Al-Ridwaniyah area. According to the speakers, "an officer from the first brigade, third company of the federal police received amounts of up to two million dinars for allowing the construction materials through an intermediary." Meanwhile, another woman in the video stated that "the brigade near the Al-Waleed center told her that construction requires arrangement in exchange for money."
