The United Arab Emirates, the United States, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Nations, and the African Union convened in Switzerland and issued a joint statement regarding talks on Sudan. The statement read: "The international delegations gathered in Switzerland for talks on Sudan welcome the decision of the Sudanese Sovereign Council to open the Adrie border crossing from the Republic of Chad to North Darfur for the next three months."
The statement continued: "We also welcome the commitment of the Rapid Support Forces to cooperate with aid delivery operations, particularly through the vital route from Al-Dabbah to Darfur and Kordofan, and to protect humanitarian workers in their efforts."
It added: "These constructive decisions will enable both parties to facilitate the entry of necessary aid to stop famine, address food insecurity, and respond to the immense humanitarian needs in Darfur and beyond. The parties must communicate immediately and coordinate with humanitarian partners to effectively activate these corridors for sustainable, unimpeded access to aid."
It concluded: "The international community and humanitarian organizations must seize this opportunity to deliver aid and save lives, particularly for the most vulnerable groups. The work of the international delegations in Switzerland will continue today."
