Lebanon Electric Company: Increase in Electricity Supply Starting Next Month

The Lebanon Electric Company announced, in a statement, that "based on the decision of its Board of Directors number 420-22/2023 dated 06/09/2023, and in light of the positive results achieved by the completion of the implementation of the national emergency plan for the electricity sector to date, it will proceed to increase electricity supply by two (2) additional hours daily beyond the general number of hours scheduled, starting from Sunday, 1/10/2023, exclusively for the new outlets that have been surveyed during the completion of the first phase of the plan to remove violations from the electrical network, which is carried out in coordination with the security forces, for which we are grateful. It has been found that the percentage of violations compared to the number of subscribers is less than 10 percent, in accordance with the supply plan based on the non-technical losses percentage approved by the Board of Directors under its decision number 484 dated 20/12/2022."

The company indicated that the medium voltage outlets, numbering 800, include the first phase of the aforementioned violation removal plan, with inspections completed on 216 outlets within the Beirut administrative area and regions supplied by the National Utility of the Litani River, in addition to all distribution outlets that supply public facilities in all Lebanese governorates. To date, inspections have been conducted on 71 outlets in the Beirut administrative area, along with outlets designated for public facilities, with the campaign to inspect and remove violations from other outlets continuing according to the available capabilities in this phase. Future phases will include all Lebanese regions gradually based on the logistical capabilities available to the company and in coordination with the security forces.

The company announced the names of additional outlets that have recently completed inspection: Shimon - Hanawi - Sassin - Hayek - Azouri - Jupiter - Kataeb - Nabil - Sukleen - Tabac - Majli - Mayassi - Fahd. Citizens supplied by these outlets will benefit from an increase in electricity supply starting from 1/10/2023, providing two (2) additional hours daily for these outlets, feeding part of the following areas: Ashrafieh - Al-Hikma - Rmeil - Al-Mador - Gemmayzeh - Bashoura - Karantina - Al-Nahr - Al-Manara - Ras Beirut - Commodore. It should be noted that this increase in electricity supply will remain at the same additional amount for the mentioned outlets, even if the general supply hours increase later, unless there is a comprehensive blackout across all Lebanese territories due to the instability of the national electrical grid resulting from limited production capacity.
