# Islamic Care Home Celebrates International Day of Older Persons

The "Islamic Care Home" Association celebrated the International Day of Older Persons at the Ava Venue in Ashrafieh, under the patronage and attendance of the Deputy President of the Walid Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation, Minister Layla Solh Hamadeh, in collaboration with "Sabah Brothers" for artistic production and distribution, with producer Sadiq Al-Sabah. The event was attended by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, along with a political, parliamentary, social, and media crowd.

Minister Solh stated: "Let us remember our elders as God has instructed us and let us not scold them but speak to them kindly, and lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy. Perhaps what the President of the Islamic Care Home intended from this occasion is to bring together people of goodwill from various sectarian, religious, and regional affiliations for the benefit of the humanitarian spirit among the Lebanese community, especially after the exacerbation of consecutive crises and the overwhelming catastrophes woven and crafted by leaders who have lost their humanity, thus neglecting the homeland and its people. But what crime have the elderly, orphans, and the disabled committed to deserve the punishment of this world, and ultimately, who will have the power to judge, certainly not the ruling class."

She added: "Dear attendees, my support for this celebration stems from my belief and appreciation for the Islamic Care Home Association, which was founded by President Riyad Al-Solh, who was assassinated before the association could see the light in 1952. The association derives its principles from those elders who planted humanity, care, and social values in Beirut and left behind a good deed that will bear witness for them on the Day of Resurrection. This home continues to embrace individuals in the autumn of their lives, surrounding them with care and supporting them in their final journey."

Several speeches emphasized the importance of humanitarian work, especially in these difficult circumstances.
