Raid by the Information Branch in Burj el-Barajneh Leads to Seizure of Large Quantity of Drugs

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Saturday, stating: "As a result of the continuous monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to curb drug trafficking and promotion in various Lebanese regions and to pursue and arrest those involved, the Information Branch obtained information about individuals storing drugs inside two apartments in Burj el-Barajneh, intended for distribution to promoters. Consequently, the relevant teams of the branch were tasked with conducting field and investigative procedures to uncover the identity of the mentioned individuals and arrest them. Through investigations and inquiries, the branch identified the locations of the two apartments used for storing and promoting drugs in Burj el-Barajneh, and identified the identities of the involved individuals who are: - K. A. (born in 1992, Syrian) has an arrest warrant for drug offenses. A. A. (born in 1990, Syrian) the brother of the first. Y. N. (born in 1989, Lebanese) a drug promoter.

On 21-09-2023, after careful monitoring, the branch's patrols raided the two apartments in Burj el-Barajneh and arrested the first and second individuals inside, while simultaneously arresting the third in the Old Sidon Road area. Upon searching the apartments, the following was seized: - 399 plastic caps containing cocaine weighing approximately 2 kg - 47 plastic boxes containing cocaine weighing approximately 330.2 g - 2 sensitive scales, a large quantity of drugs and bags for packaging, a plastic cap labeled 'jumbo' containing traces of cocaine, a quantity of nylon envelopes, an empty glass container for drug packaging, a plastic box containing cards, a small strainer for drug use, cash, and 3 mobile phones. A Chevrolet car used in drug promotion operations was also seized.

During the investigation, the first individual confessed to storing and packaging cocaine drugs inside the two apartments with the knowledge of his brother (A. A.), in addition to distributing them to promoters including (Y. N.), and that he works for a dealer in the Bekaa region. Both the second and third individuals admitted to the accusations against them and to using drugs. Legal measures were taken against them, and they were detained along with the seized items, based on judicial instructions."
