The official committee of hourly contract professors at the Lebanese University announced in a statement that "after the conclusion of the second semester of the current academic year, and after the professors fulfilled all their duties towards the university, the university administration and the Ministry of Education have not adhered to settling the financial rights of the professors, both in terms of paying all amounts in Lebanese pounds and paying productivity in dollars. This raises questions about the ongoing delays in paying financial rights and dues, as if the goal is to humiliate the contract professors at the Lebanese University." The committee strongly condemned "the failure to disburse summer productivity, like other members of the teaching staff, as stated in the relevant decree," and called on "the concerned parties to achieve justice among professors as soon as possible."
It affirmed that "the difficult economic and security conditions Lebanon is going through necessitate immediate action by the authorities and that they should be responsible towards the contract professors and settle what is due to them." The statement concluded: "Finally, the hourly contract professors at the Lebanese University have run out of patience regarding this marginalization and deliberate neglect by those concerned, and they confirm that the only solution is the prompt approval of the long-awaited permanent status file. September is just around the corner; may God protect Lebanon and its national university from all malicious enemies."
