Arrest of a Syrian After His Photos in Military Uniforms Spread

After social media circulated photos of an unidentified individual wearing military uniforms and carrying weapons, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced that "specialized units in the Information Branch intensified their technical and investigative measures to identify and arrest the suspect." The Directorate indicated that "as a result of intensive inquiries and investigations, the branch was able to identify him, named M. A. (born in 2003, Syrian)." On 07-07-2024, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to locate him in the town of Bashamoun and worked to arrest him. During the investigation, he admitted that he was the same individual whose photos were shared on social media wearing military uniforms and carrying weapons. Legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority, based on judicial instructions.
