US Military: Destruction of Two Boats, a Drone, and a UAV of the Houthis

The US military announced on Thursday night to Friday that it had destroyed two patrol boats, a drone, and a UAV belonging to the Houthis over the Red Sea. The Central Command of the US military stated in a communiqué that the Houthis targeted a cargo ship owned by Ukrainian entities with a missile for the second time within 24 hours. It added that the Houthis also fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles from areas they control in Yemen towards the Red Sea, but no damage occurred.

In contrast, the US military announced the successful destruction of an air defense sensor operated by the Houthis in a region under their control in Yemen. The US Central Command reported on Thursday evening that the Houthis attacked a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden with two missiles, resulting in damage and fires on board.

The statement noted that the Houthis launched two anti-ship cruise missiles towards the Gulf of Aden, hitting the vessel MV Verbenna, a large cargo ship owned by Ukraine, flying the Palau flag and managed by Poland. The command stated that a civilian sailor sustained serious injuries and was evacuated from the ship. Additionally, the Central Command mentioned that a plane took off from the USS Philippine Sea to evacuate the injured sailor to a nearby partner vessel for medical care.

The communiqué further indicated that the cargo ship MV Verbenna, owned by a Ukrainian entity and operated by a Polish company, reported damage and fires on board, which the crew is still battling. The ship "Verbenna" had recently docked in Malaysia and was en route to Italy carrying wooden construction materials.
