In a strange phenomenon, Australian astronomers have discovered a "fake star," also known as a "quasar," powered by a black hole with a mass between 17 and 19 billion times that of the sun. The experts stated that the discovered star consumes a sun every day, emphasizing that the fake star is 500 trillion times brighter than the sun. They explained that it could be the most "violent" place in the universe, according to British news network "Sky News."
According to the report, the fake star consists of a hot gas region surrounding a massive black hole, with temperatures reaching hundreds of thousands of degrees Celsius, emitting light and other rays. Scientists mentioned that the discovered star is siphoning enormous amounts of gas equivalent to the size of the sun daily, resembling a hurricane, as it is surrounded by a rotating gas disk, which experts say emits a significant amount of energy, making it over 500 trillion times brighter than the sun.
It is worth noting that the lead author of the study, Christian Wolf from the Australian National University, confirmed that this quasar is the most violent place discovered in the universe. The "quasar" was first observed in 1980, and initial studies indicated that it was a star; however, observations in Australia and the Atacama Desert in Chile confirmed it to be a fake star. According to the European Southern Observatory (ESA), the fake star named "J0529-4351" is located a billion light-years away from Earth.
