Egypt's agricultural exports during the six months from September 2023 to February 2024 revealed that there are 15 key countries importing Egyptian vegetables and fruits, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia. Egyptian media reported the list of the top 15 countries importing Egyptian crops as follows:
1. Saudi Arabia - 365,000 tons valued at $214 million.
2. Russia - 291,000 tons valued at $191 million.
3. United Kingdom - 111,000 tons valued at $125 million.
4. United Arab Emirates - 345,000 tons valued at $119 million.
5. Netherlands - 182,000 tons valued at $103 million.
6. Turkey - 76,000 tons valued at $99 million.
7. Morocco - 56,000 tons valued at $80 million.
8. Iraq - 91,000 tons valued at $79 million.
9. Libya - 76,000 tons valued at $68 million.
10. Germany - 40,000 tons valued at $57 million.
11. Syria - 68,000 tons valued at $56 million.
12. Italy - 66,000 tons valued at $54 million.
13. Algeria - 29,000 tons valued at $46 million.
14. Spain - 82,000 tons valued at $40 million.
15. United States - 11,000 tons valued at $32 million.
Additionally, Egypt's commodity exports increased by 9.8% to reach $16.5 billion during the first five months of 2024, marking the highest level for this period of the year. Exports also rose to $3.5 billion in May, attributed to the opening of numerous factories, particularly in the engineering industries sector.
The largest markets for Egyptian exports in the first five months of the year include Saudi Arabia ($1.4 billion), Turkey ($1.3 billion), United Arab Emirates ($1.33 billion), Italy ($974 million), and the United States ($904 million). The major export sectors constituting the structure of Egyptian commodity exports during the first five months of this year included construction materials, food industries, chemical products, and fertilizers.
