Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his country's readiness to increase agricultural product supplies and develop energy projects with Indonesia during a meeting with elected Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. In the meeting held in Moscow today, Wednesday, Putin stated that trade and economic relations between Russia and Indonesia are evolving, and the volume of trade has doubled in recent years despite the COVID-19 pandemic and events surrounding Russia (sanctions).
He added that a joint government committee between the two countries is working on enhancing trade and economic relations, and the Russian president expressed hope that bilateral trade would continue to grow. Putin emphasized that the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan) and Indonesia, which is ready for signing, will play an important role in developing trade and economic relations.
On his part, the elected Indonesian president expressed his country's intention to enhance relations with Russia, stating, "We are open to having Russia more involved in our economy." The Indonesian president also pointed out that his country discussed opportunities and possibilities for cooperation in the nuclear industry with the company "Rosatom."
