The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati received a call from Algerian Prime Minister Azzedine Mihoubi, during which they discussed the relations between the two countries. The Algerian Prime Minister expressed his country's support for Lebanon and its solidarity with it. He informed Prime Minister Mikati that "upon the direction of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, quantities of oil will be supplied immediately to help Lebanon overcome the current crisis in the electricity sector." Prime Minister Mikati thanked the Algerian President for this initiative and also expressed gratitude to his Algerian counterpart for Algeria's ongoing support for Lebanon in all areas.
In this context, the Minister of Energy and Water in the caretaker government, Walid Fayad, received a call from his Algerian counterpart, Mohamed Arkab, who expressed his country's desire, upon the direction of President Tebboune, to support Lebanon in securing fuel to overcome its crisis by providing a donation of gas oil, the quantity of which will be determined based on further negotiations between the two parties. Minister Fayad valued Algeria's initiative "which has always stood by Lebanon, and has made every effort, as a state, people, and institutions, to contribute to its rescue and assist it in its crises, just like the brotherly Iraq, which stands in solidarity with Lebanon in all its crises and continues to supply it with fuel to revitalize the energy sector."
