Algerian international Rami Ben Sabaini, the left-back for Borussia Dortmund, received unexpected praise from his coach, Nuri Sahin. Ben Sabaini, who is returning from a serious injury that sidelined him from official competition since March of last year, is steadily establishing himself as a key player for the team due to the absence of competitors at the left-back position.
Nuri Sahin spoke to the German local newspaper "Westdeutsche Allgemeine," stating, "I really like Rami; he knows well what I think of him." The German coach continued with surprising remarks: "If Ben Sabaini wasn't a good player, the club wouldn't have signed him last summer."
The newspaper noted that while Sahin admires Ben Sabaini and his playing style, he did not make any promises but directly warned him that he must deliver excellent performances. The same newspaper confirmed that although the Algerian defender will start the season in the German league as a first-choice player, it does not guarantee that he will keep his position if his performances are not noteworthy.
"Ben Sabaini will inevitably find himself up for sale if he does not meet expectations during the new season, especially since his first year with the club did not go particularly well," concluded "Westdeutsche Allgemeine."
Rami Ben Sabaini (29 years old) is contracted with Borussia Dortmund until June 2027, with a market value of 7 million euros according to the "Transfermarkt" platform.
