When coincidence is better than a thousand appointments, it signals a beautiful omen for the work you intend to undertake. This is particularly true when it involves a new generation of young athletes who will have a real opportunity to pursue their passion and possibly reach the world of professionalism. This discussion pertains to the two most popular sports in Lebanon: basketball and football.
The coincidence is that the launch of Al-Hikma Club's football and basketball academy, or the actual beginning of its operations through talent trials, will take place on the very day the new administrative body of Al-Hikma Club is established, which is next Saturday, November 4, 2023. Fate has delayed its inception by a week to next Saturday, and it has come about through acclimation.
With the birth of the new administrative body, it can be said that there is no fear for the future of Al-Hikma Club, as its work is rooted in the grassroots level, specifically the age categories that the club's academy will produce. These will be overseen by specialized coaches in both sports to build a solid foundation that ensures continuity and serves as the main reservoir for the first team in basketball and football.
The work of Al-Hikma Club Academy will commence next Saturday at the courts of Al-Hikma Secondary School in Ain Saadeh, covering six age categories for each sport.
In basketball, talent trials will start at 10:00 AM for the under-8 category, at 10:30 AM for under-10, at 11:00 AM for under-12, at 11:30 AM for under-14, at 12:00 PM for under-16, and finally at 12:30 PM for under-18, taking place in the basketball gym at Al-Hikma Secondary School. At the same times, trials for football will begin on the school's designated field for the sport.
It will be an outstanding sports day, eagerly anticipated by fans of both sports, and will mark the beginning of building a new generation of youth whose names will be associated with this prestigious club, which coincidentally was founded 80 years ago this month.
