The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Thursday, stating: "On October 1, 2023, an unknown individual stole a white four-wheel-drive 'Range Rover' vehicle from the Tripoli area after renting it from a local car rental office and fled to an unknown location. Immediately, the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces began their field and investigative procedures to identify the perpetrator and apprehend him. As a result of extensive inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch was able to identify the mastermind and members of the gang, namely:
- N.S. (born in 1984, Syrian)
- A.R.T. (born in 2003, Syrian)
- K.D. (born in 1980, Lebanese)
- S.Y. (born in 1989, Lebanese)
On different dates and following precise surveillance, the branch's patrols managed to arrest them all. During the investigation, the first suspect confessed to forming a gang for car theft in cooperation with the other detainees, while the second stated that he illegally entered Lebanese territory to carry out car thefts at the request of N.S. He also mentioned that the third and fourth suspects helped him travel to the Baakline area and provided him with accommodation there to work with the mastermind in theft operations. The second suspect also reported that on October 1, 2023, he went to a car rental office in Tripoli, rented the white four-wheel-drive 'Range Rover' under the pretense of wanting to rent it for several days, but then drove it to the Jbeil area, where an unknown person received the vehicle from him and removed the GPS device. He then returned to Baakline and was arrested the following day. The others also admitted to the charges against them. Legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the relevant authority based on the judiciary's instructions."
