An Iraqi security source in Diyala province revealed today, Monday, details of an airstrike on an ISIS hideout in the eastern Hamrin Hills. The source, in a statement to "Baghdad Today", said, "After four days of continuous intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance, a secret ISIS hideout was identified in the eastern Hamrin Hills in Diyala, and a green light was given to strike it yesterday, Sunday, resulting in the death of three terrorists according to initial observations."
The source added that "a joint security force began a wide combing operation early today around the strike site amid indications that ISIS losses are greater following the strike that targeted an ISIS leader known as (Abu Arkan), who is a secondary-ranking leader according to intelligence information and holds several names."
He noted that "this strike is the ninth of its kind in the Hamrin Hills in Diyala during the current year 2024, targeting dormant cells that occasionally become active by moving between areas for hiding purposes, but monitoring provides continuous information that contributes to their discovery, leading to the green light for their bombing."
Yesterday, Sunday, the Security Media Cell - Joint Operations Command announced the killing of three terrorists in one of ISIS's desperate hideouts in the Hamrin mountains.
