Egyptian fencer Nada Hafiz revealed her participation in the Arab sword fencing competitions at the current Olympic Games in Paris while pregnant in her seventh month. In a surprising announcement after performing well and later exiting the competitions, the Egyptian fencer stated that she is seven months pregnant. Hafiz (26 years old), who is competing in the Olympics for the third time, defeated the world's tenth-ranked American Elizabeth Tartakovsky 15 - 13, before losing 15 - 7 to South Korea's Jun Hae-young in the Round of 16 in Paris. Later, Nada Hafiz expressed pride not only in her performance but also in participating in the competition while pregnant with her child. She wrote on her Instagram account: "What looks like two players on the podium was actually three! It was me, my opponent, and my child who has not yet come into our world! Pride fills my being after securing my place in the Round of 16... These Olympic Games were different. I have participated in the Olympics three times, but this time I carried a small Olympic medal."
