Tension continues at the southern borders, with significant unrest reported across southern Lebanon this Tuesday evening, marking a month since the outbreak of war between Israel and Gaza following Hamas's announcement of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation. Since then, militias have been attempting to draw Lebanon into the conflict. As a result, most residents of the south have fled to the interior of Lebanon to escape the violence, with the border area from Naqoura to Al-Arqoub becoming a site of gradually escalating skirmishes between Hezbollah and Israel.
On Tuesday evening, an explosion was heard in the skies of the eastern sector, which was later determined to have been caused by an Israeli surface-to-air missile. Subsequently, Israeli warplanes launched an attack on the Marjeyoun plain, according to "Al-Markaziya". In the western sector, the outskirts of the border town of Naqoura in the "Lubounah" area came under Israeli artillery fire, with four shells falling opposite Marwahin. In the central sector, the outskirts of the town of Aita al-Shaab were hit by two Israeli airstrikes at the locations of Al-Rahib and Al-Hadab.
Late at night, Israeli aircraft targeted a three-story building in Yatur owned by a citizen from the Kurani family. Hezbollah announced in a statement from its military media that "in response to the Zionist enemy targeting one of the positions of the Islamic resistance in the region of Al-Tuffah on the night of Monday, November 6, 2023, the Mujahideen of the Islamic resistance, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, targeted Israeli artillery positions in occupied Palestine."
According to LBCI reports, eight rockets were launched from the eastern sector towards Israel, while Al-Arabiya's correspondent reported that 20 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards the Galilee and Golan Heights. Later, an Israeli military spokesperson announced that after sirens sounded in northern Golan Heights and Upper Galilee, rocket launches from Lebanon were detected. The Israeli army stated: "Israeli warplanes attacked today targets belonging to 'Hezbollah' in southern Lebanon, including storage facilities, launch sites, infrastructure, and technological means."
Additionally, reports indicated that Israeli army positions in the Golan were targeted by rockets and that the Iron Dome conducted interception operations in the area of the eastern sector. In turn, Al-Arabiya's correspondent noted that the Israeli army targeted sites in southern Lebanon. The Shebaa Farms area in southern Lebanon and open areas in the eastern sector also came under Israeli artillery fire. Media coverage highlighted heavy bombardment on the outskirts of border villages in southern Lebanon.
The National News Agency reported Israeli shelling around Al-Ma'iya and Naqoura. Meanwhile, it was reported that Israeli warplanes were flying over Beirut and its suburbs. Today, Israeli warplanes struck Mount Lubounah near Naqoura, while reconnaissance aircraft flew over Tyre and the coastal area. There were also reports of Israeli artillery fire on Lubounah and the outskirts of Naqoura. In response, Hezbollah targeted the Israeli site at Birkat Risha.
Israeli media reported gunfire and mortar shells directed towards Arab al-Aramsha in the western sector near the Lebanese border. The Israeli army also announced the interception of a drone near the Lebanese border. Israeli radio indicated that an anti-tank missile was launched from Lebanon towards Shomera in Western Galilee, and the army retaliated against the source of fire. The Israeli army also claimed to have targeted a cell attempting to launch an anti-tank missile at Shattula from southern Lebanon. Its spokesperson stated: "Our forces targeted a Hezbollah observation point near the border."
Earlier, it was reported that the Israeli army conducted four airstrikes on Aita al-Shaab and another on the town of Muhaybib, with unconfirmed reports of two Hezbollah casualties from these strikes. Israeli artillery also targeted Dahira and Aita al-Shaab. In official statements, the Israeli defense minister warned that if Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah made a mistake, similar to what was seen with Sinwar in Gaza, Israel would determine Lebanon's fate.
