Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned against the widening of the conflict and escalation in the region following the recent developments and the Gaza war. Presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy stated that Sisi met with French Minister of Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu, and that the meeting addressed the regional situation and developments in the Gaza Strip. Fahmy continued, "The importance of avoiding the expansion of the conflict and escalation in the region was emphasized," and he reviewed the ongoing Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, as well as receive injured Palestinians and evacuate foreign nationals. For his part, the French minister affirmed his country's appreciation for Egypt's continuous efforts, praising "the pivotal role that Egypt plays in maintaining regional security and stability." The war in Gaza has entered its 40th day, with Israeli shelling of the territory continuing amid ongoing clashes on several fronts, alongside a complete siege on the residents of the area and a shortage of food and medical supplies.
