The British police announced that they found no evidence to support charges of terrorism against any individual following a suspected threat targeting a major Islamic event in eastern England last week.
Authorities had arrested 13 individuals between Sunday and Thursday after receiving information about a 'serious potential threat' targeting the religious event, which was attended by around 15,000 people in Suffolk County.
The police explained that eight men were detained under the Terrorism Act, but seven have since been released without any charges.
Conversely, a 42-year-old man has been charged with possession of offensive weapons, including an extendable baton and a stun gun, which were found during searches. Police have stated that these items are not believed to be connected to the threat under investigation.
Helen Flanagan, head of London's Counter-Terrorism Police, stated that investigations revealed no evidence supporting terrorism-related charges, noting the investigation is ongoing and additional measures will be taken should new threats arise.
Police also disclosed that more than 35 digital devices were confiscated during searches of homes and vehicles as part of the investigation.
In April, the UK raised its national terrorism threat level to 'severe', indicating that a terrorist attack remains highly likely.
