More than 30 people were injured after a fire broke out in a Ferris wheel during a music festival on the outskirts of Leipzig in the German state of Saxony yesterday, Saturday. German police reported that all victims suffered from smoke inhalation after flames ignited in two compartments of the Ferris wheel. The fire started around 9 PM local time in one compartment before spreading to the second, resulting in the complete destruction of both compartments. The cause of the fire remains unclear. The German Red Cross announced that two people were seriously injured, and police revealed that four officers were among the injured, noting that a helicopter was used in the rescue operation.
