The Palestinian representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, announced that "the Security Council has failed to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip," pointing out that "the Security Council must rein in the party that is killing tens of thousands of Palestinians." He viewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before Congress as "the speech of a war criminal that is against peace."
During a Security Council session, Mansour emphasized that "an immediate ceasefire is the first step on the path to ending humanitarian suffering," indicating that "we must put an end to the horrific assault on the Gaza Strip." He stated, "The displaced people in Gaza are fleeing from one inevitable fate to another." He added, "The Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories must end as soon as possible."
On the other hand, the Israeli representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, considered the Security Council's call to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza as "absurd." He said, "Israel remains committed to expanding the scope of humanitarian assistance in Gaza, and it is coordinating the entry of aid despite Hamas's attacks." He reported that "Hamas uses UNRWA facilities to perpetrate its crimes, and the agency employs personnel who are terrorists."
