Attempted to Kill Information Branch Patrols, Shot and Died

In the context of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat drug trafficking and promotion operations across various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch obtained data regarding the activities of one of the networks involved in large-scale drug trafficking in the Kesrouan area. Immediate orders were issued for the branch's patrols to identify and arrest the members of these networks. As a result of the follow-up, it was revealed that the mastermind of the mentioned network was identified as S.A.Y. (born in 1984, Lebanese), one of the dangerous wanted individuals.

Consequently, the special force of the branch was assigned to conduct continuous surveillance to track and apprehend him, as he was heavily armed and considered a dangerous person. On 05-11-2023, after careful monitoring executed by the special force, they managed to identify the mentioned Chevrolet vehicle with S.A.Y. onboard, accompanied by another person driving the vehicle. The force proceeded to encircle them and surround the vehicle, ordering them to comply and warning them against using firearms. The driver complied with the orders; however, S.A.Y. brandished a military rifle of the "MP5" type and aimed it at the members of the force, attempting to shoot at them directly. This forced them to return fire, resulting in his injury and death; the rifle was seized, and a bullet was found inside it. The driver, identified as A.B. (born in 1992, Lebanese), was arrested.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of drugs: 2 kg of cocaine in two nylon bags, three plastic containers containing cocaine weighing approximately 87 grams, along with 859 rounds of usable ammunition, two packages containing materials used for drug manufacturing, a black fabric bag with two combs, counterfeit money amounting to $668, bags and containers used for drug packaging, a sensitive scale, two electric vacuum sealing machines, and cash.

During the interrogation of A.B., he confessed that he had been involved in drug promotion for about six months on behalf of S.A.Y. He stated that he would distribute the drugs to customers at the request of the latter. Regarding the military rifle, he indicated that it remained in the possession of S.A.Y. and informed him that if any patrol attempted to arrest him, he would use it to resist arrest and escape.

Legal procedures were taken against him, and he was detained along with the seized items, as directed by the judiciary.
