The Criminal Court of First Instance at the Oran Court of Justice in Algeria has sentenced a citizen to death for committing a heinous crime in which he killed his mother, dismembered her body, and drank her blood. The events of the crime date back to January 24, 2022, in the Ain El-Baida area of Oran, when the Criminal Investigation Team of the Person Crime Division reported the suspicious disappearance of the victim (B.F.), an elderly woman who had been missing for a week.
When the security forces arrived at her home in Douar El-Marrakech, they found her body covered in dirt and buried in the yard, along with clothes stained with blood that belonged to her son, known as (H.A.). The victim's daughter had reported the suspicious disappearance of her mother, also stating that her mother’s jewelry had been stolen and indicating that her unmarried brother frequently argued with their mother, whom he resented for not giving him money from her pension, threatening her with death if she refused to comply.
The suspect son confessed to being the perpetrator who killed and stole her jewelry, describing the crime as he slaughtered her and mutilated her body using his tools, including a knife. In his account of the crime, he stated that he brought a knife and slit her throat; upon seeing the blood covering the victim and the surrounding area, he admitted to drinking her blood. He added that he was overcome with intense fear at that moment, which led him to lie down on the bed and fall asleep until awakening around four in the morning. He then killed three cats that were in the house and drank their blood as well before going back to sleep. Upon waking the next day, he regained his strength and used an axe to dig a large hole to continue dismembering his mother’s body, burying the cats he had killed near a lemon tree in the family yard, claiming he did all this alone without anyone's assistance, justifying his actions by stating that his mother begged for money and worked for others.
After the investigations were completed based on the main suspect's confessions, two individuals he had commercially interacted with after committing the crimes of murder and theft were summoned, and after investigation, they were charged with concealing stolen items resulting from a felony. Meanwhile, the public prosecution considered the charges against the three defendants as established, each according to the nature of the crime attributed to them, requesting the imposition of the death penalty on the main defendant and applying the law to the others. The court ultimately condemned the first defendant to the requested penalty and acquitted the two jewelry dealers involved in the case.
