The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, received MP Walid al-Baerini, accompanied by Sheikh Abdul Latif Bakar Zakaria of the Qadiri order, at Dar al-Fatwa. Following the meeting, al-Baerini indicated that they discussed "Islamic and national affairs, as well as the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip." He affirmed that "the election of a president for the republic remains a top national priority, and everyone should hasten to elect a president regardless of the varying political circumstances, as the country cannot endure further vacancies." He emphasized "the importance of preserving the military institution, especially since we are in a state of war with a fierce Zionist enemy."
He stated, "We support the extension of all security forces in this difficult time the nation is experiencing, particularly Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and the Director General of Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Osman." He also called for "solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza and for providing all forms of support to our steadfast and patient people standing against the Zionists, who do not know the meaning of humanity and mercy, and pay no heed to any international covenant, disregarding it completely."
Subsequently, Mufti Deryan received businessman Alaaeddin Al-Shammali, and they discussed the developments.
