Ryanair DAC CEO Eddie Wilson indicated on Wednesday that the company intends to increase its internal and external summer flights in Morocco by one-third in 2024, aiming to transport nine million passengers throughout the year, reflecting the "huge potential" of its only African destination. In an interview with Reuters, Wilson said, "I believe there is enormous potential," noting the "lack of seasonality in travel to Morocco due to the number of expatriates who regularly travel to their homeland and the growing market, as it is a destination unlinked to the holiday weekend season for European tourists."
He added, "Obtaining licenses for domestic flights in a non-European country is an achievement for a European airline and will help Ryanair make better use of aircraft while also benefiting from internal tourism from the growing middle class." Ryanair is expected to launch 24 new international routes, as well as domestic flights connecting nine Moroccan cities, planning to double its annual number of passengers in Morocco. The new Ryanair program starting this summer will include the opening of 11 new domestic routes to cities such as Agadir, Errachidia, and Essaouira.
