Israeli forces carried out violent attacks across the Gaza Strip yesterday, Sunday, targeting a refugee camp in the north and a hospital in the south, in addition to the death of a girl who had previously lost one of her legs in an earlier bombing, according to Palestinian officials and witnesses. The spokesperson for the Gaza Health Ministry told Reuters that Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza resulted in the deaths of 90 Palestinians yesterday. Al-Aqsa Radio, affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), reported that an Israeli rocket strike on the home of the Shehab family killed 24 individuals and injured dozens. An official from the Islamic Jihad Movement told Reuters that among the deceased was the son of Daoud Shehab, the spokesperson for the group allied with Hamas.
A paramedic stated that dozens were killed or injured in the Shehab family house and other neighboring homes that were also bombed. He said over the phone, "We believe the death toll under the rubble is high, but there is no way to remove the rubble and retrieve them due to the intensity of the Israeli fire." In Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, paramedics reported that 12 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured. Additionally, an Israeli air raid on a house in Rafah in the southern region resulted in at least four deaths. People rushed to help rescue families trapped under the rubble. Mahmoud Jarboua, who lives nearby, told Reuters that the sound of the explosion was "like the force of an earthquake."
The Israeli government confirmed that it carried out operations against militant targets and that it is taking exceptional measures to avoid targeting civilians. In Khan Younis in southern Gaza, residents reported hearing sounds of Israeli aircraft and tanks shelling, along with rocket fire apparently launched by Hamas fighters. The Israeli army stated that it killed seven militants in an airstrike on Khan Younis and discovered parts for manufacturing rockets and three tunnel openings near a school used as a shelter. Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Gaza Health Ministry, stated that an Israeli tank shell hit a maternity building inside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, leading to the death of a 13-year-old girl named Dina Abu Mohsen. Al-Qudra added that the girl had previously lost her parents and two siblings, as well as one of her legs, during a bombing of a house in the Al-Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis weeks ago.
