French player Raphael Varane, former defender of Manchester United, has officially transferred to the Italian League this summer. The newly promoted club Como announced the signing of Varane on a two-year contract with an option for an additional season. Raphael Varane stated, "I am extremely happy and excited about this new project, and I cannot wait to start and meet my teammates. There is also the physical preparation for the new season that I am looking forward to."
He added, "Initially, I was curious to learn everything about the project, and I immediately saw that it was special and different from any other project that had been offered to me, so I wanted to know more. The more I learned about the project, the more interesting it became, giving me a different perspective on what I want to do."
He continued, "Once this project appeared among my future options, it quickly became a priority, and we were able to close the deal. I am very happy. There are many things we want to accomplish, and that is very exciting." He concluded, "I will meet Cesc Fabregas again, but not as an opponent this time. I am very happy; I truly admire his playing philosophy and passion for football. When we spoke, it was very easy for us to understand each other, so I hope we achieve very positive results."
