The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced that "the road has been reopened for traffic coming from in front of the Kataeb House in Achrafieh towards Hazmieh - Emile Lahoud Highway, and from this highway towards Doura, and also towards the coastal road, in addition to the lane leading from the entrance towards Forum de Beyrouth and then Hazmieh - Emile Lahoud Highway." The statement added, "Meanwhile, the road heading from Hazmieh - Emile Lahoud Highway to Karantina - Fish Market, and from the Karatina Bridge towards Karantina - Fish Market remains closed until the cleaning operations by the Beirut Municipality are completed." The Directorate requested that "citizens take note and refrain from using the roads that are still closed, and to adhere to the directives and instructions of the Internal Security Forces personnel."
In this context, the General Director of Civil Defense, Major Raymond Khatar, inspected the operations in the Sabtieh area, following the directives of the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi. The heavy rains caused a supporting wall near a residential building to collapse, which posed a risk to public safety. Major Khatar also oversaw the operations carried out in the Karantina area, where the level of the Beirut River rose, leading to the flooding of all roads surrounding the river. He gave instructions to the personnel to continue ensuring public safety in the area and to ensure that no pedestrians are exposed to any danger until the Beirut Municipality completes its operations of clearing the river’s course. He praised the efforts made by Civil Defense personnel since the early hours yesterday and continuing until now across all Lebanese regions in response to the calls of citizens and residents, proving their exceptional dedication and commitment.
