FIFA Announces Its Tournaments and Events Agenda for 2024

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced its agenda for tournaments and events in 2024, which will see the continuation of the qualifications for the largest World Cup in history taking place in 2026, hosted by three countries for the first time—Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Additionally, there will be two major world championships: the Beach Soccer World Cup in the UAE and the Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.

FIFA stated that the "The Best Awards 2024" ceremony will kick off FIFA's events and activities. This annual celebration honors the pioneers of the game and awards the achievements of the top male and female football players, scheduled to take place on January 15, 2024, in London, UK.

The Beach Soccer World Cup "UAE 2024" will be FIFA's first tournament of the year, featuring 16 teams competing over 11 days on the sands of Dubai. Teams like Brazil, Iran, Italy, Japan, and Portugal are contenders for the cup, while fans will witness the brilliance of stars such as Cechi Ardel, Katarino, Edson Hulk, Felipe, Marco Giordani, Pe, Leo Martinez, Mustafa Masi, and Ozu Moreira.

In 2024, the qualification for the 2026 World Cup will continue, with qualifications already underway in the three continental federations of Asia, Africa, and South America. The CONCACAF and Oceania teams are preparing for their matches this year, while the European qualification will start in early 2025.

Football competitions at the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games, under FIFA's umbrella, will be one of the major football events of the year, taking place across seven different venues throughout France. The 12 qualified teams in the women's category will be divided into three groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will qualify for the knockout stage. For the men, the 16 qualified teams will be split into four groups of four teams each, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout stages.

Uzbekistan will host 23 teams competing in the Futsal World Cup from September 14 to October 6, 2024. The Women's U-20 World Cup will take place in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024, featuring 24 teams following an increase in numbers by FIFA last October, followed by the Women's U-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, 2024.

FIFA's tournaments in 2024 will conclude with a new competition, the Intercontinental Cup, which includes all champions from the major continental club competitions, culminating in a decisive final match on neutral ground in December 2024, where the UEFA Champions League winner will face the winner of a playoff between the champions of two other continental federations.
