Pyongyang announced on Monday that it has transferred 250 new generation rocket launchers to its forces stationed at the border between the Koreas. This comes as Seoul resumed its anti-Kim Jong Un propaganda using loudspeakers. The official Korean Central News Agency reported that a ceremony for the transfer of the "250 tactical rocket launchers of the new generation to the military forces at the border" was held in Pyongyang under the supervision of leader Kim Jong Un. The North Korean leader stated that these devices are "modern tactical offensive weapons," emphasizing that he "personally designed them." Kim added in his speech that the unveiling of the new weapons during the country's ongoing flood damage is "an indicator of our party's strong will to continue enhancing defensive capabilities," according to the official news agency.
Pyongyang is working to strengthen its military capabilities at the border, where Seoul has resumed its loudspeaker propaganda campaigns against the North Korean regime. The relations between the North and South are currently at one of their most tense periods in years. The two Koreas are technically still at war, as the conflict that occurred between 1950 and 1953 ended with an armistice, not a peace agreement. The loudspeaker propaganda campaign along the border, a remnant of the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, has provoked anger in Pyongyang, which has previously threatened to target South Korean loudspeakers with its artillery.
