While Israel remained officially silent and did not comment on the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Israeli Minister of Heritage, Amichai Eliyahu, made a brief statement. Eliyahu said in a post on X, "This is the right way to cleanse the world of this filth. No more fake peace/capitulation agreements, no more mercy for these people." He added that "the iron hand that will strike them is what will bring peace and a bit of comfort and enhance our ability to live in peace with those who want peace." He mentioned that "the death of Haniyeh makes the world a little better," as he expressed. Yedioth Ahronoth reported on a "dramatic assassination operation in the heart of Tehran," stating, "Around 2:00 AM (Israel time), a missile was fired at Haniyeh's apartment, killing him along with his personal guard."
