Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov revealed on Monday that "Russia is superior to the West in weapon production and intends to maintain high growth rates after both the West and Russia ramped up arms production for the Ukraine war." Manturov, who oversees arms production, told Russian media: "I don’t want to boast, but I can say that we started to make gains and increased the pace of production earlier than Western countries." He added: "The other question is how long this race will last," noting that a new armament plan for the period from 2025 to 2034 is expected to be approved next year. Ukraine and its Western allies have intensified arms production in an effort to outmatch Russian forces on the battlefield in Ukraine. Russia has also increased production but claims that the West is responsible for the war, which Moscow dates back to 2014.
