Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday that "Russia will take retaliatory measures against South Korea, which has expanded its sanctions against Russia," adding that "the Russian response may not be limited to economic actions." Zakharova stated: "The expansion of South Korean sanctions against Russia is an unfriendly step taken at the request of Washington." She further expressed that this is unfortunate and contradicts South Korea's declared intention to maintain constructive relations with Russia. She continued: "The South Korean restrictions will harm practical cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea... All of this will negatively impact the entire complex of bilateral relations. We reserve the right to take retaliatory actions that are not necessarily of a similar nature." It is noteworthy that the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced the expansion of the list of products prohibited from being exported to Russia and Belarus to include 1,159 items, except with special government permission.
