In the context of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to pursue those involved in drug trafficking and promotion across various Lebanese regions, information was received regarding two unknown individuals promoting drugs in the areas of Shweifat and Khalda. Following this, the specialized units began field and investigative procedures to identify and apprehend them. As a result of inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch managed to identify the suspects, who are:
- A. Y. (born in 1997, Palestinian)
- M. Sh. (born in 2003, Palestinian)
Both have prior convictions for drug-related and theft offenses.
On 09-07-2024, following a careful surveillance operation, one of the branch's patrols arrested them in the act in Khalda while they were promoting drugs from a gray "Toyota" vehicle, which was seized. Upon searching them and the vehicle, the following items were confiscated:
- Two nylon envelopes containing approximately 2.6 grams of hashish
- Three envelopes marked "Nes Baz Extra" containing a total weight of approximately 7.7 grams of base material
- Nine envelopes marked "Nes Net Extra" containing approximately 2.5 grams of cocaine per envelope
- Four envelopes marked "Nat" containing approximately 3.1 grams of cocaine per envelope
- A cigarette rolling paper notebook, a sum of cash, and two mobile phones.
During the investigation, they admitted to the charges of drug possession and promotion using the seized vehicle in the Shweifat and Khalda areas on behalf of a dealer, in exchange for $200 per day of work, stating that they rented the Toyota for their promotional activities. The necessary legal action was taken against them, and they were transferred along with the seized items to the relevant authorities based on judicial instructions.
