The Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a deal worth 1.5 billion shekels (approximately 340 million dollars) with the Israeli systems company "Elbit" for ammunition. As part of the agreement, "Elbit" will establish a new arms factory in Israel. According to the ministry, the procurement is "part of its strategy to ensure a steady supply of vital materials for the Israeli army, maintaining its longevity during ongoing and future operations."
Israel also announced the signing of a contract worth 220 million dollars with "Elbit" for the supply of precision-guided mortar shells. These developments come as Israel is engaged in a conflict on multiple fronts, amidst fears it could escalate into a devastating full-scale war.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the company has won a contract worth about 190 million dollars for the supply of guided mortar shells, known as "Iron Sting." "Elbit" stated that the contract will be executed over two years. According to the ministry's announcement on its X platform account, the contract includes the purchase of thousands of precision-guided mortar munitions.
The ministry noted that "these precision-guided munitions are equipped with advanced laser guidance systems and GPS, designed to enhance the operational capabilities of the Israeli army's ground forces, enabling precise targeting while reducing collateral damage and minimizing risks to non-combatants in complex combat conditions."
