The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced the killing of journalist Abdullah Hamad, his wife, and their four children in an airstrike on their home in Deir al-Balah early Friday morning. A statement from the syndicate's freedoms committee mentioned: "Occupation planes targeted the home of journalist photographer Ahmad Maher Khair Eddin in Beit Lahia project in northern Gaza yesterday (Thursday), and journalist Muhammad Khair Eddin, his cousin, was also martyred. This morning, camera maintenance specialist Abdullah Hamad was killed due to the bombing of his home in Deir al-Balah."
It continued: "In addition, the occupation targeted a group of journalists with tear gas and physical assault and prevented them from covering events in Jerusalem. Forces also prevented journalists and worshippers from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Wadi Al-Joz area. The known journalists include: Diaa Jouhan, Rami Al-Khatib, Nader Bibars, Christine Renaoui, Ezzat Jamjoum, Maram Al-Bukhari, Bara Abu Ramouz, Ghassan Eid, Fayez Abu Armeleh, Latifa Abdullatif, and Jihad Al-Muhtasi. Furthermore, journalist Diaa Jouhan of Al-Hayat Al-Jadida newspaper was assaulted and pushed by occupation soldiers and expelled from the Bab Al-Amoud area despite showing her International Federation of Journalists card, where she was told by the soldiers that she was banned from being present or photographing."
Additionally, "In the town of Dura south of Hebron, a group of journalists faced a series of violations and harassment by the occupation army, which assaulted WAFA photographer Mashhour Al-Wahwah and his assistant, agency driver Ahmad Qazzaz, as well as the Palestine TV crew consisting of Jihad Qwasmi, photographer Iyad Al-Hashlamoun, and reporter Farah Abdeen. The Al-Jazeera crew consisting of reporter Montaser Nassar and photographer Ahmad Amro was also detained, beaten, and their journalistic equipment confiscated. The crew from Al-Ghad TV, which consists of reporter Raed Al-Sharif and photographer Jamil Salehab, faced similar treatment, as the occupation army fired at them and prevented them from covering events."
Earlier, on Saturday, the government media office in Gaza stated that the number of journalists killed in the sector since October 7 has risen to 92. The media office mourned the journalists who lost their lives after a prominent career in work and giving.
